Yes. Careviv does not charge UK GPs for the introductory conversation, public planning tools, Careviv profile or clinic matching. External costs such as licensing, credential verification, immigration and relocation expenses are set by other organisations and remain your responsibility.

What happens during the 20-minute introductory conversation?

Accepted Answer

We'll learn where you are in your plans, discuss what matters to you and your family, and explain how Careviv may be able to support your move. It is not a formal eligibility assessment, and you do not need to prepare documents or commit to continuing.

Will Careviv tell me whether I qualify to practise in Canada?

Accepted Answer

Careviv does not make licensing decisions. We can compare the information you provide with published provincial requirements, show which routes may be relevant and highlight anything that still needs confirmation. The appropriate provincial medical authority makes the final decision.

Do I need to know which province I want to move to?

No. You can begin with your career, lifestyle and household priorities. Careviv can help you explore relevant provincial differences before you decide where to focus.

Accepted Answer

Your profile can bring together your training, recent practice, registration status, clinic preferences and household priorities. This allows Careviv to show information and opportunities that appear relevant to you without asking you to repeat the same information at every stage.

How does Careviv match me with clinics?

Accepted Answer

We consider available clinic opportunities alongside your location preferences, working style, practice interests and relocation priorities. We show the information each clinic has provided and clearly flag anything that still needs confirmation before an introduction.

Does Careviv prepare or submit licensing and immigration applications?

Accepted Answer

No. Careviv organises source-linked information, likely document requirements, practical checklists and questions to confirm. We do not submit applications, provide legal or immigration advice, or act as your representative.

Can Careviv guarantee a licence, clinic offer or relocation timeline?

Accepted Answer

No. Those outcomes depend on medical authorities, clinics, immigration processes and other external organisations. Careviv's role is to organise the relevant information, make outstanding questions visible and help you prepare for informed decisions.

Can I speak with Careviv if I am only starting to explore Canada?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The introductory conversation and public tools are designed for UK GPs at an early stage. You do not need to have selected a province, clinic or moving date.

What settling-in support does Careviv provide?

Accepted Answer

Careviv brings together practical information about partner work, schools, childcare, provincial health coverage, banking, housing and relocation planning. We clearly identify anything that requires confirmation from an official body or independent professional, and we do not secure permits, housing or school places.

How long does Canadian medical verification take for a UK GP?

Accepted Answer

It varies, and it can't be guaranteed. The Medical Council of Canada is explicit that source verification depends on the credential and, above all, on how quickly the issuing institution responds — a response can take three months or longer. It's usually the foundational step, because a provincial College builds its registration decision on verified credentials, so the biggest lever on your overall timeline is starting verification early. Rather than quote a single figure, we map a realistic range for your specific case during your Canada readiness conversation.

Do I need permanent residency before I can start practising?

Not necessarily. Depending on the province, the clinic's offer and the immigration pathway, many UK GPs begin practising on a work permit rather than permanent residency. Some physician roles may fall within an LMIA-exempt category, while others require an LMIA. Which applies depends on the province, employer, role and current IRCC rules. Once you're working in Canada you may become eligible for physician-focused permanent-residence streams. Careviv can organise the relevant official information and outstanding questions, but does not assess immigration eligibility. Confirm the pathway that applies to you directly with IRCC or, if you choose, an authorised representative you engage independently.

Will I have to retake my medical exams to practise in Canada?

Possibly not — but MRCGP on its own is not sufficient. The College of Family Physicians of Canada can grant certification without examination to family physicians trained and certified in the UK, but only if you also meet its other conditions: a valid, unrestricted licence and active family-medicine practice in the jurisdiction where you trained and certified, good standing, and a provisional or restricted provincial licence in Canada. The practice-eligible MRCGP route is treated differently. Your provincial College may also require a period of supervised practice. Whether the no-exam route is open to you depends on your training and history. We identify the relevant conditions and sources, and clearly mark what must be confirmed with CFPC or the provincial College.

How does Canadian family doctor pay compare to the NHS?

Canadian family-medicine compensation varies widely by province and practice model. For any clinic we introduce we share the actual compensation structure in writing — hours, patient load, and any bonuses or stipends — and benchmark it against published provincial figures for a comparable role, so you can compare it honestly against your current NHS package rather than against an average.

Can my partner and children move with me?

Often — but it isn't automatic on arrival. Whether your spouse or partner can get an open work permit depends on your own status and occupation; physicians usually fall into the high-skilled categories that qualify, but eligibility and permit length still carry conditions. For children, whether they need a study permit depends partly on whether they apply from outside Canada or are already here with a work-authorised parent, and on the school level. Careviv organises the relevant official information and a household preparation checklist, but does not assess immigration eligibility or submit applications. Confirm your family's current requirements directly with IRCC or, if you choose, an authorised representative you engage independently.
