PharmaNet BC access: PRIME registration for physicians
By Careviv Editorial Team, Careviv
Plan individual PRIME enrolment, community clinic registration and local account setup before using PharmaNet in a BC practice.

Information checked: October 20, 2026.
PharmaNet provides controlled access to medication dispensing history. 6 Before using PharmaNet in BC, confirm three separate parts: your individual PRIME approval, the clinic’s site registration and your local account. The clinic and physician can coordinate their tasks in parallel. 1 2
This guide covers private community practices. Health-authority sites use their own team and process. 2 Use the Canadian licensing guide too; PRIME registration does not replace a medical licence.
What does PRIME registration approve?
PRIME manages requests for ministry approval to access PharmaNet. Approval does not create your local software account. 1 5
People who access records to deliver care enrol individually, including staff working on a practitioner’s behalf. Ask the workplace who needs access; it is not every employee automatically. 1 5
What do I need for PRIME enrolment?
Follow the official individual-enrolment instructions. Have the workplace administrator’s email and applicable licence details ready. A new licence must be activated by the college and loaded into PharmaNet. 1
Use the official identity-check route that fits your situation. Do not put identity documents, passwords or account details in a recruitment checklist.
Ask the clinic which site and vendor apply, who receives approval details and who sets up your account.
What happens after individual approval?
Send approval details through PRIME to the local person who sets up access. That person must receive approval directly from PRIME before account setup. 1
The approval-detail notification link expires after ten days; the approval itself does not expire then. You can share details again through PRIME, including with a new workplace. 1
An application receipt is not proof that access is ready. Some requests need ministry review, so do not assume a processing or clinic-start date. 1 2
What must the community clinic register?
A community site is the physical location where in-person care is delivered together with its PharmaNet software vendor. The clinic’s PharmaNet registration is separate from individual enrolment. 2 3
When joining an existing practice, ask which registration applies. The clinic needs its approved-vendor arrangement in place before registering. A vendor change requires a new registration and site ID; do not reuse the old ID. 2 4
For community-site approval, the current ministry page says the vendor notifies the clinic when it is ready. PRIME does not send a confirmation email for that site step. 2
Who handles the site and local accounts?
Ask who is authorized to manage registration and the required organization agreement. Do not infer signing authority from a job title or physician status. The registrar need not be a PharmaNet user. 2 4
Name the account administrator, privacy officer and technical contact. The technical contact must understand the clinic’s network; it is not automatically the vendor. One qualified person may hold several roles. 2 7
What should we confirm before the first day?
Use this worksheet to assign unresolved tasks. It needs no patient records, passwords or identity numbers.
