The live pathway is Provisional Registration – Family Practice Limited. It permits practice with limits and conditions in a geographic area or setting approved by the Minister of Health.
No. The approved-jurisdiction pathway to Full registration announced for public consultation in July 2026 was still a proposal at this content’s review date and must not be used for a current route result.
A UK GP using the approved-jurisdiction basis must obtain written CFPC confirmation of eligibility for certification. CPSM also reviews the medical degree, internship, postgraduate training and relevant specialty certificate through source verification.
Yes. The Family Practice Limited route requires an employment or sponsorship opportunity and a ministerial certificate identifying the approved geographic area or practice setting.
Written CFPC eligibility can exempt an applicant from the approved family-practice assessment and separate practice-mentor requirements. It does not remove the requirement for a satisfactory practice supervisor throughout Provisional – Family Practice Limited registration.
The current approved-jurisdiction provisional route does not require MCCQE Part I, NAC or PRA as preliminary entry steps, and LMCC was removed as an entry requirement. Those rules apply to this route and should not be transferred to Manitoba’s other assessment pathways.
A Family Practice Limited registrant must work toward Full Practising registration, normally within five years, by obtaining CCFP or successfully completing MPAP. MPAP is a separate progression route with its own eligibility and assessment requirements.
CPSM requires practice in the family-practice area you intend to undertake within the approved recent-practice period, generally the preceding three years. Three years or more away from the relevant practice area triggers a separate re-entry assessment process.
CPSM accepts IELTS General or Academic with 7 in every component, and the component scores need not be from the same sitting. OET Medicine B and CELPIP-General 9 must be achieved in one sitting; testing is generally within 24 months, while UK education or practice evidence may support an exemption subject to the policy.
A separate live assessed pathway may apply based on two years of approved family-medicine training, or one year of training plus three years of qualifying practice experience. It normally involves Registrar review, an approved assessment, mentor, supervisor, employer and Minister-approved setting; it is distinct from the proposed direct Full route.
