Since 6 July 2026, CPSBC’s recognized foreign postgraduate training pathway can lead to the Full – family licence. This tool compares your answers with the published route criteria; CPSBC still reviews the complete application and makes the licensing decision.
CPSBC does not list CCFP, MCCQE or LMCC as blanket entry requirements for this pathway. A practice-ready assessment, supervision and return-of-service agreement are also not standard conditions for an applicant who meets the direct Full – family criteria.
The published requirement is at least two years of accredited postgraduate family-medicine training in a jurisdiction recognized by CFPC for certification without examination, which includes the UK. A pending, shortened, portfolio or otherwise non-standard training profile may require individual CPSBC review.
Clinical currency normally means at least 24 weeks and 960 clinical hours in the preceding three years within the relevant scope. Research, teaching, administration and medical-regulation work do not count toward those clinical hours.
BC-PIP is an integration programme for internationally trained physicians with less than 12 months of full-time-equivalent independent practice in Canada. It must normally be completed within one year after BC licensure and is not a practice-ready assessment or a supervised licence period.
Yes, but CPSBC applies a full-time-equivalent measure rather than counting calendar months alone. Record the duration, hours and approximate full-time fraction of your independent Canadian practice so the requirement can be assessed accurately.
CPSBC may accept evidence that English was the primary language of both your medical education and patient care, or specified evidence from independent Canadian practice. Otherwise, accepted results include IELTS Academic 7, OET Medicine B or CELPIP-General 9 in every component, from one sitting and within the applicable two-year period.
The Full – family application requires an acceptable medical degree and source-verified documents. International graduates should confirm that their school and graduation details appear in the World Directory of Medical Schools with the applicable Canada Sponsor Note.
No blanket job-offer or employer-sponsorship gate is published for the direct Full – family pathway. A licence does not provide a job or immigration status, and legal authority to live and work in BC is still required before practice begins.
Falling below 24 weeks or 960 hours does not by itself mean a permanent refusal. CPSBC must review whether assessment, retraining or another return-to-practice step is required.
