Summy is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Counselling Art Therapist with a Master of Counselling Psychology: Art Therapy from Adler University. She brings extensive experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through a wide range of therapeutic services, including individual and relationship counselling, ICBC counselling, perinatal mental health support, and group art therapy. She also works with children and adolescents, integrating art therapy interventions and assessments to help them express and process their experiences.
Summy’s approach is shaped not only by her professional training but also by her own lived experience. As an immigrant, she has navigated the pain of separation from loved ones and the challenges of adapting to a new country. These experiences have deepened her understanding of the systemic and relational challenges many people face.
At the heart of her practice is a commitment to self-compassion, empowerment, relational support, and the resilience that emerges from vulnerability. She believes every individual has inner strengths waiting to be discovered and works collaboratively with clients to create a safe, compassionate, and empowering space for healing and growth.
As both a parent and a therapist, Summy understands the joys and challenges of parenting. Her training in Positive Discipline with Dr. Jane Nelsen has supported her own parenting journey and has also helped her successfully guide clients through parenting challenges with confidence and compassion.
Summy is passionate about supporting couples. Using the Gottman Method, she helps partners improve communication, resolve conflict, and rebuild trust. She guides couples in exploring behavioural patterns, shared values, and strategies for strengthening emotional connection.
In her practice, Summy integrates multiple approaches, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Art Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, mindfulness, self-compassion practices, and trauma-informed care. Working from a holistic, person-centred, strength-based lens, she helps clients connect the dots between thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and physical symptoms, creating space for mind–body healing.
She believes every individual’s journey is unique, and that authentic connection, empathy, and unconditional acceptance are essential for healing. Summy is dedicated to helping clients uncover their inner resources, navigate challenges, and reconnect with their most authentic selves.
Summy feels honoured to walk alongside her clients as they create meaningful change and live their most authentic story.
