Dr. Patrizia Cannata, or Dr. Patty, is the dentist at Bayview Dental in the heart of Steveston, in Richmond, BC. She took up a career in dentistry because it gave her the ability to combine two things she cares about: making a positive impact in her community, and helping people feel better about themselves. Dr. Patty attended Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University in London, Ontario, where she graduated with distinction. She originally graduated from the University of Medical Sciences and Technology in Khartoum, Sudan in 2009.
Upon moving to British Columbia, Dr. Patty, her husband and 4-year-old son settled in beautiful, historic Steveston. “It’s a joy to bump into my patients at the many boutique shops in town. There is a strong sense of community in Steveston, and I’m fortunate to live, work, and play here.”
Dr. Patty is particularly adept at working with children and her focus is on holistic and cosmetic dentistry, including Invisalign. “Sometimes, even a simple fix such as filling in a chipped or discolored tooth can make patients leave feeling better than when they came in. Helping my patients feel more confident in their smile and in themselves is what keeps me going!”
Dr. Patty is a big fan of eating, and always up for trying new foods. Her other hobbies include dancing, and tagging along on nature and birding excursions with her family. Dr. Patty is fluent in English, Arabic, and working on her Italian!

We had a wonderful experience at this dental clinic. I took my daughter, who has special needs, for a cleaning, and everyone was incredibly kind, patient, and inclusive. The staff made the whole process calm and relaxed, paying attention to Sofia’s needs with so much care and respect. Dr. Pati was very professional and gentle — she did an excellent job, and Sofia’s teeth look spotless! The clinic accepted our dental plan. I am very grateful for their kindness and professionalism. Thankfully, my daughter, who is 16 y.o, has no cavities and has never had one! Highly recommend this clinic for families, especially those with children with special needs.
